Last night, the NHL was forced to change a major rule in order to accommodate for a huge mishap that occurred in Seattle.
NHL Forced to Change Rules to Fix Lighting Issue in Seattle
The excitement in the Seattle-Rangers game happened well before the first puck drop. Seattle was experiencing some issues with the lighting in Climate Pledge Arena, which resulted in the Rangers' end being much dimmer than their home counterparts.
As a result, the NHL was forced to change its rules, making goalies switch ends every 10 minutes instead of at the end of each period. This was done to ensure that each team spent the same amount of time in the darker end of the rink.

Panarin Didn't Seem to Mind Playing in the Dark
Some players were excited to play in the darker end of the rink, and Artemi Panarin even said after the game that it helped him score his two goals, joking that the goalies couldn't see the puck.

It's safe to say that the goalies probably didn't feel the same about the lighting issue.
