After being one of the better teams in the league last season, the St. Louis Blues are a disaster. Craig Berube didn't hold back in roasting his players after a tough loss last night, but he may have gone too far.

The St. Louis Blues are having a tough season. After committing to a retool with the trades of Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan O'Reilly, they've expectedly regressed further as a team.

This is much to the chagrin of head coach Craig Berube, who didn't hold back in his opinions on his players:

They're getting paid lots of money and they're not doing their job. End of story.

After these comments, Alexei Toropchenko shared his thoughts. It's safe to say he didn't appreciate his head coach's comments:

I'm trying to do my best, and I hope everyone is on the same page. But it's not like that, unfortunately.

Even if we're not in the playoff spot, I will do everything because it's a hockey game. You can't (disappear), especially when you're playing in the NHL. You're not playing somewhere else, on the beer league or something like that. You need to show something. You need to show heart and character and be strong everywhere. Just play from your heart. Not good.

Hopefully this team is still full of the heart it thrived on to win a Stanley Cup in 2019, but more and more it's looking like the Blues have a long ways to go to contend.

With Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas signed to matching $65-million extensions, this team needs to get back on track, and soon.
