Report: Philadelphia Flyers Actively Seeking Trade for Controversial Player After Only One Season
Wherever he goes, it seems like it never lasts long, and now it looks like he's on the move again.
Constant Movement
After signing a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Flyers a year ago, the team reportedly wants defenceman Tony DeAngelo gone. That's according to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman.
"I do think Philly is looking at Tony DeAngelo, I think they are aggressive on that front about trying to see what the market is for him."
The Problems
I'll avoid rehashing the full history with suspensions during his junior career, to suspensions after breaking into the league with Arizona, to his breakup with the New York Rangers, which was messy. All that counted for, it was John Tortorella, the recently fired head coach of the Flyers, who summed up DeAngelo's play.
"Last team he played for, Carolina, I think they could absorb some of that with their roster as far as maybe some of his deficiencies defensively. It kind of sticks out more with us."
"I'm a little bit - not disappointed - but the defensive liability is something we need to work at. I didn't think the amount of work that we need to do with him...I didn't think that at the point in time when we got him," - John Tortorella In summary, it's not really surprising that Philadelphia would want to get rid of DeAngelo and his $5 million cap hit. However, finding a dance partner could prove difficult.
