Stanley Cup Champion Has Contract Terminated After Being Placed On Waivers
This afternoon major news has been reported out of New York. The Rangers have terminated the contract of forward Nick Bonino. The decision comes after Bonino cleared waivers before the All-Star break was going to be sent to the AHL. According to sources that was something Bonino was not interested in doing.
The #NYR gave Nick Bonino the All-Star Break to think things over after he cleared waivers. He decided he didn't want to report to the AHL and asked the Rangers to terminate his contract. The team, which has a lot of respect for him, honored that request.
Since being released new reports are indicating that Bonino won't be without a home for long. Several teams are interested and discussing signing Bonino for the remainder of the season.
As Bonino discusses with teams and eventually finds his new home we will continue to keep you updated on the situation.
