Ryan O'Reilly Finally Reveals The Real Reasons He Left Toronto
At the last trade deadline, Kyle Dubas made a major trade, acquiring Ryan O'Reilly from the St. Louis Blues. O'Reilly had the chance to play a few games that season, despite a significant injury, and he played in all the playoff games.
This summer, as you know, he decided to leave and signed a deal with the Nashville Predators.
Recently, Ryan O'Reilly opened up about his decision to leave Toronto.
O'Reilly Reveals Why He Left Toronto for Nashville
Here's what the former Blues' captain had to say about his decision to leave Toronto:
"It was and is an amazing place to play. Just putting on that jersey, you can feel the love that comes with it, how much pride people take in that jersey. It's hockey's team. It was definitely not an easy decision to not re-sign there."
He also mentioned the importance of hockey in Toronto:
"You can tell everything's amplified. I don't do it often, but it was a good thing when I played there that I didn't turn on the TV much or turn on the radio, because there are so many outlets talking about it. Everything's covering it, discussing it. Here, it gets a little time on the TV, but it's not everything. It's more than just a game there."
When he was asked why he chose Nashville, he said:
"There were just so many things that were attractive about it. We have something here that, if we do things the right way, we're going to be very competitive."
The Predators could be a surprise this season, and Ryan O'Reilly will definitely play a major role in the team's success.
