Martin St. Louis has been away from the Montreal Canadiens for tragic reasons, but now the young Head Coach appears to be on the way back.
A few weeks ago, a scary collision meant that Martin St. Louis would be taking time away from his role with the Montreal Canadiens, with full support from the team.
Now, the 48-year old Quebec native is officially on his way back, with the team revealing that he will be behind the bench when they battle the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.
Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis has rejoined the team in Denver and will be behind the bench on Tuesday.
Under St. Louis, the Canadiens have posted a 71-96-22 record in 189 games over the past three seasons, but with a talented core led by Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield and others, they appear ready to take a major step forward under the star coach.
Given the collision that his son was involved in to force him to take leave from the team, it's fantastic news for him and the entire family that he's well enough to have Martin rejoin the team, as he was incredibly thankful in a statement release by the team.
«I'd like to thank Geoff Molson, Jeff Gorton, Kent Hughes, along with Trevor Letowski, our players, coaches, and hockey operations staff for fully understanding and facilitating my need to be with my family for the past several days,» said St. Louis through a press release. «Everyone within the Canadiens organization has been very supportive of my wife Heather and me as we fully focused on our son Mason and his recovery from a hockey injury. As parents, nothing is more important to us than our three sons, Ryan, Lucas, and Mason.»
