Yesterday, during Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Golden Knights and the Panthers, a clip of Paul Maurice, Florida's head coach, went viral after an outburst following one of the worst calls of the playoffs.
With only 11 seconds left to the third period, after Matthew Tkachuk tied the game, Gustav Forsling got a tripping penalty after Chandler Stephenson fell on Forsling's skate.
Stephenson fell on his own. There shouldn't have been a penalty called on the play.
Here's the sequence:
When the period ended, Maurice got up on his bench and screamed at the referees:
He was obviously not happy with the call and shared his dissatisfaction with the referee who took the decision.
It's not very surprising. Officiating's been uneven since the first round and nothing changed since then.
Let's hope the refs will do better for the rest of the Finals.
