New Player Surpasses Brad Marchand as NHL's Most Hated Player
Brad Marchand has finally been overtaken as the most hated player in the NHL and it is not even close.
Cousins Overtakes Marchand As The Most Hated Player In The NHL
For years now, Brad Marchand has earned the moniker of the most hated player in the NHL, and deservedly so. From cheap antics to being able to score on a team at will, Marchand is one of those players you hate but would love to have on your team.
In a recent poll of NHL players, Marchand was beaten out for the most hated player by division rival
Nick Cousins of the Florida Panthers.
Here's how the top five broke down:
With Cousins receiving nearly double the votes Marchand did, it is clear now that he is the player that everybody likes the least.
How Cousins Earned The Most Hated Title
This rant from former NHLer Kevin Bieksa perfectly sums up why Cousins is so hated.
"Somebody has to hammer this guy from the department of justice and put an end to these crappy hits because I hate them and that's a rat to me."
Cousins also doesn't have nearly as much offensive flare as Marchand posting only five points through 37 games this year. Hopefully, the NHL DoPS is able to get Cousins for one of these plays as it is clear he is becoming a danger to others on the ice.
