After all the talk of the Arizona Coyotes relocating after losing a vote that would have seen a new arena and entertainment district built in Tempe, the NHL's Deputy Commissioner is telling fans to slow their roll. Bill Daly has told ESPN that the Coyotes will remain at Mullett Arena in Tempe for at least next season.
It's clear to even the biggest supporters of the team that the Arizona Coyotes simply can't remain at a 5000 seat arena over the long-term and expect to be viable and taken seriously. At the same time, it seems as though the league and Commissioner Gary Bettman will do everything in their power to keep the team somewhere in Arizona, whatever it takes. That said, according to ESPN's Greg Wyshynski, he was told by a team source that "there is no plan B" for keeping the Coyotes in the desert. The Tempe plan that was shot down was THE plan, with nothing else in the works. This story is likely to continue for a while.
