The Leafs have had a carousel of quality GMs over the past decades and one eyes to make a comeback with a rival. Read more to find out who it is!

Ex-Leafs Gm Eyes Return With Rival

Over the past decade, the Toronto Maple Leafs have gone through 4 GMs. Brian Burke, Dave Nonis, Lou Lamoriello, and now Kyle Dubas. Each one has their ups and downs but at the end of the day, they are all quality GMs.

The problem with having so much quality talent is that rivals will attempt to poach them from the Leafs and use the Leafs' secrets against them.

The most recent of these is the Calgary Flames considering Dave Nonis as their new GM. Nonis who held the GM spot with the Leafs from 2013-2015 did not have the most successful tenure as the Leafs' GM but he did manage to set the team up well for a rebuild.

Nonis Frontrunner For Position With Flames

On the 32 Thoughts podcast NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman shared what he thinks the Flames are considering.

«The other name I have heard there is Dave Nonis, the former Vancouver, and Toronto GM, I have heard is in the mix there» - Elliotte Friedman

With the Flames eying Nonis' talents, the Leafs may need to worry about him poaching personnel he is familiar with in the Leafs organization.

At the end of the day, Nonis did not have the most successful tenure with the Leafs but his time with the Leafs helped set them up for where they are now today.
