Connor McDavid broke the Olympics point record during Canada's 3-2 comeback victory over Finland and now has sights set on the gold medal game.

Without Sidney Crosby, the Canadian squad was down their captain and heart and soul which could be felt in the early stages as Finland took a stunning 2-0 lead which included a shorthanded goal from Erik Haula.
It just so happened that the newly appointed captain in Connor McDavid, took leadership to another level as well; breaking the Olympic record for most points in a tournament -- surpassing two NHL and international legends:
But it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
After crawling their way back thanks to a semi-controversial goal from Shea Theodore due to Brad Marchand falling over Juuse Saros (though to be fair he was shoved), it was a lucky last minute chance that gave the Canadians the lead.
Nathan MacKinnon was high-sticked by Niko Mikkola, leading to a late Canadian power-play and it was none other than the Colorado Avalanche superstar himself who ended up putting Canada ahead late:
The goal did go to a referee review after Finland challenged due to a potential Macklin Celebrini offside however after some deliberation, the call stood and the Canadians were able to hold things off from there.

Finland gives Canada another scare but the comeback kids do it again

Connor McDavid led the way of course, with two assists to push his Olympic point total to 13 points in five games -- a stunning per-game pace that actually is reaching video game levels of ridiculous.
Canada outshot Finland 39-17 and their ever so deadly power-play struck twice which shows that if the Canadians want to have that overwhelming offensive performance then they made need to draw some more penalties.
For Finland, it ends a very surprising run to the semis for a team who doesn't necessarily get a lot of attention and certainly not as much as their Scandinavian brothers over in Sweden but props to head coach Antti Pennanen for leading a scrappy and defensively sound Suomi side this far.
But the big story here is obviously McDavid, who surpassed Finland's Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu for the most points in an Olympics, and it's quite ironic that McDavid bested two of Finland's greatest players while facing them himself in the semis.
It just continues to grow his legacy, and if he can translate this insane level of play into a strong push for Edmonton, with him being as unstoppable as he has been -- it could be third time's the charm for the Oilers.
For now, the Canadians get a little break before they head into the gold medal game which will be against either Team USA or they could find themselves with an underdog opponent in Team Slovakia.
