Speculation surrounding William Nylander and the Toronto Maple Leafs has been circulating like crazy in the past few months.
Nylander still has a year left on his contract, but many would like to see him sign before the next season starts to avoid being a distraction for the entire team.
Now, in a rare interview, Nylander gave an update on his situation.
Nylander was interviewed by Elliotte Friedman earlier today, and while it hasn't been released yet, Friedman posted a picture with some details of Nylander's perception of the situation with the Leafs.
"The most relaxed man in hockey. 'Lots of time' to sort out his contract," says there's nowhere else he wants to be than Toronto. Doesn't see why everyone is spending so much time discussing it."
This is major. While everyone thought a trade was coming for Nylander, he reiterated his desire to remain in Toronto.
We can't wait to see what the future holds for Nylander, but we certainly hope that he'll stay with the Maple Leafs and that his situation won't be a distraction for his teammates.
The '32 Thoughts' interview has yet to drop and more information will be added.
