The Toronto Maple Leafs recently parted ways with assistant head coach Guy Boucher and now a new report has indicated why he was let go.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have completely overhauled their coaching staff this summer. It began with the firing of head coach Sheldon Keefe and the hiring of his replacement Craig Berube.

Just a couple of weeks after Craig Berube was hired it was announced that Guy Boucher would not be returning to the organization. The announcement sparked a conversation about why the separation happened.

Elliotte Friedman confirms why Guy Boucher left the Toronto Maple Leafs
A new report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that it was Guy Boucher's decision to leave the Maple Leafs. According to the report Guy Boucher wanted to be considered for the head coaching position and when he wasn't he chose to move on.
I think Boucher had indicated that if a coaching change was made he would like to be considered for the position, Elliotte Friedman said. I don't know how seriously Toronto did [consider it] or if he was a candidate.
Now the Toronto Maple Leafs will search for a new assistant coach while Guy Boucher goes on the job hunt for a more attractive situation for the development of his career. Once there are updates on his eventual replacement we will pass them along to you.
