The Toronto Maple Leafs are having one of the most unique seasons in NHL history, with just 5 regulation wins. Even more, they have only had 2 regulation wins in the last 14 games, only one of those coming with a mult-goal win.
They have been widely criticised for getting lucky in these wins, and their season could look a lot different if they ended up losing those games. Of course, in Toronto, they have been questioned about this a lot.
Keefe is right, in the end all that matters is making the playoffs. However, the Leafs do need to get better in regulation if they want to make a push in the playoffs. It is unlikely that this sort of success will translate to the playoffs, especially as there is a different overtime structure in the post season.
