By all accounts, Jack Campbell is one of the nicest guys in professional hockey. Unfortunately for him though, his play has dropped off a cliff this year and now it seems like he may never play in the NHL again.
The Oilers famously waived Campbell early this season and sent him to the American Hockey League. The team was reportedly hoping that he can re-find his game at that level, but the results have not been good. Now that we have a good sample size, it seems like Campbell simply can't perform at an NHL level anymore.
The game lowered Campbell's record in the AHL to 4-5. It also lowered his save percentage to .888 and his goals-against-average to 3.61. Those numbers would be bad in the NHL, but given that these are AHL stats, we can assume that he would be even worse at the NHL level. As a result, it really seems like he is not an option at the NHL level anymore.
