Camera Catches John Tavares Doing Unique Ritual Before Convincing Win Vs The Penguins
Many professional athletes are superstitious. Whether or not Leafs captain John Tavares is is not known, but he could be seen in his last game performing a mini ritual on the bench that could be a way for him to conjure some good luck.
Tavares Honors Kids With Tape On Stick During Win Versus Penguins
Last night, the Penguins were humiliated by the Leafs as they were crushed 7-0. Half-way through the game, when the Penguins were down only 5-0, the camera panned to Leafs captain John Tavares, who was on the bench. The veteran center could be seen touching three pieces of tape on his stick. Each piece had the name of one of his children on it.

Notably, Tavares did score a goal in the game.
Leafs Dominate Penguins With Best Performance Of The Season
By the end of the night, the Penguins likely would have wanted to just forget about the whole game. The Leafs walked away with their biggest win of the season as serval players stepped up in the absence of Auston Matthews.
Additionally, this win must have felt extra nice as the Leafs sent their former GM, Kyle Dubas, home with many things to consider. The Penguins are committed to winning this season but the team is now 7th in the metro division with a 13-13-3 record. Head coach Mike Sullivan acknowledged the fact that the team has been underperforming after the game.
Coach Sullivan: "We just didn't play very well... I will certainly dissect it. I'm not quite sure how I'll respond to it. It's a humbling experience. We didn't perform to our expectations and it's disappointing. We're all in this thing together - we gotta figure it out."
At this point is seems like the Penguins are in serious trouble while the Leafs are slowly finding their groove.
