The Ottawa Senators have reportedly dealt veteran forward Warren Foegele to the Los Angeles Kings.

The Los Angeles Kings are sending winger Warren Foegele to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a pick, moving out Foegele's $3.5M contract weeks after the acquisition of star forward Artemi Panarin.
First reported by Darren Dreger, it was reported that the deal also involves a pick swap between the Kings and Senators. According to TSN's Bruce Garrioch, the Kings acquired a second round pick.
According to David Pagnotta of 'The Fourth Period', the trade would also swap conditional third round picks between both teams.
Foegele, 29, is in his ninth NHL season. The Markham, Ontario native has just seven goals and nine points in 2025-26, but has been over the past few seasons one of the league's top defensive wingers.
The Kings gain cap relief after acquiring Artemi Panarin from the New York Rangers prior to the Olympic roster freeze. While New York retained 50% of his current deal at $11.6M, the Kings signed Panarin to a two-year extension at $11M, moving out Foegele's contract as relief to their cap.

Warren Foegele returns to native Ontario and provides depth relief

Warren Foegele has an Ontario homecoming that sees him head to the Ottawa Senators a necessary add to the team's bottom-six.
Ottawa is third last in the NHL in penalty kill success with a 72.4% PK rate, with only Seattle and Vancouver below them. The Senators have been eyeing help on the bottom-six and PK, and get both in Foegele.
The Senators sit sixth in the Atlantic Division with 67 points and a 29-22-9 record, two points ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the standings.
The Los Angeles Kings have played Foegele on their third line on the left wing and on their first penalty kill unit, both roles that Foegele may stick at in Ottawa.
The move could provide a change of scenery offensively for Foegele who has seen a drop in his production, even as his defensive game continues to be a reliant.
