Jake DeBrusk's Boston Journey Hangs by a Thread
The Boston Bruins will be making the playoffs this year, that much is almost certain. However, the team could be looking to move one of their bigger name players.
Bruins Considering Trading DeBrusk Despite Playoff Position
It is an odd year this time around as multiple teams in playoff positions are poised to sell of some players. One of those teams is the Boston Bruins as recent rumors suggest that Jake DeBrusk could be on his way out. The 27-year-old forward is set to become a free agent this offseason and he has expressed a desire to not re-sign with the Bruins.
More and more, it appears that #NHLBruins winger Jake DeBrusk will become a playoff rental after the NHL Trade Deadline.
Will it be for the #LetsGoOilers, #Flames, or another Western Conference team, or for the Bruins?
Rumors have linked the Bruins winger to western Canada, leading many to believe he could end up with the Oilers.
Oilers Interested In Trading For Bruins Forward?
The Oilers will certainly be looking to be aggressive buyers as they have steadily climbed the standings. One team they have been linked to in rumors this season is the Boston Rumors. As such, they could be a good fit for DeBrusk as the winger is unlikely to sign an extension with the Bruins.
Debrusk has 13 goals and 27 points in 57 games this season. He has played in 442 career games, recording 132 goals and 253 points to this point in his career, all with the Bruins. He is on the final year of a two-year extension with a 4 million dollar cap hit.
The Bruins have a tough decision to make with him as they will be heading into the playoffs themselves this year. They could hold onto DeBrusk and keep him for the playoff run if they want, but they could get more long-term value by dealing him before the March 8th deadline. Stay tuned to see what they choose.
