When he was still managing the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kyle Dubas made a controversial trade, by sending away one of the Leafs' top prospects Rasmus Sandin to the Washington Capitals.

In breaking news, the Caps reached a new deal with Sandin.

Elliotte Friedman announced a few minutes ago that Sandin is apparently closing in on a five-year extension with the Capitals, with a value around $4M a year.
"There is word this morning Washington is closing in on a five-year extension with Rasmus Sandin in the mid-$4M range"

This season, the 23 year-old defenseman he has scored 20 points, including three goals in 52 games.
