Two Leafs Trades Proposed to Get Flames' Tyler Toffoli
Nothing seems to be working out in Calgary. Even after they fired Darryl Sutter, players don't want to stay with the team. Apparently, Noah Hanifin, Elias Lindholm, and Tyler Toffoli aren't interested in playing with the Flames next season.
Now, this raises questions as to where they'll play. Hanifin and Lindholm are free agents, but Toffoli still has a year left on his contract. The Flames might be interested in trading him as they could get a nice return for the forward.
If they do, the Toronto Maple Leafs should be interested.
We've drawn up two trade scenarios to see Toffoli in Toronto.
Trade Scenario 1
Flames Receive: Nick Robertson & 2024 3rd-Round Pick (NYI)
This is the simple scenario. A one-on-one trade plus a pick for the retention.
Trade Scenario 2
Flames Receive: Nick Robertson, Bobby McMann, Rights to Erik Källgren & 2024 4th-Round Pick
Here, what's interesting is that they would get Vladar. If they land him, they won't need to sign Ilya Samsonov, which could help Treliving focus on other moves.
One thing seems certain: if the Leafs want to get him, the Flames will have to retain some of his salary. Of course, by doing so, the price will be higher, but they simply don't have the money to pay him and make other moves this summer.
Toffoli's leadership would be a great addition to the Leafs' locker room, but not enough to sacrifice all the Leafs' cap space.
