Many changes are expected in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization after another unsuccessful playoff run. Either Dubas, Keefe, Shanahan, or some players in the Core Four likely won't be back for the next season.

William Nylander is the latest player whose name has come up in trade rumors. There's only a year left in his contract and a ten-team no-trade clause will come into effect in July. If the Leafs want to trade him, it will likely happen before or during the next draft on June 28th.

"This week on the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman said that the Leafs will not 'run it back,' which I think means they intend to change their lineup before next season. That will be the last season on Nylander's current contract, which has a ten-team no-trade clause that will go into effect at the beginning of July. The team would therefore be most motivated to move him before then - probably before or during the NHL Draft, which begins on June 28."

Nylander and Wilson Linked for a Potential Trade

The website RMNB considered the scenario in which Nylander is traded to Washington in return for Tom Wilson.

Both players had similar statistics during the last season, except for the fact that Wilson played only 33 games.

If injuries caused him to miss a significant part of the season, it shouldn't worry the Leafs if they were to inquire about him. His physicality makes him a great asset for any team that has him in their lineup.

As the draft gets closer, we should have a better idea of Nylander's future, and we'll keep you updated on that.

As seen on Hockey Feed - Wilson and Nylander linked in huge trade scenario!
