Elliotte Friedman, the most reliable hockey insider, has confirmed that Patrick Kane will be a New York Ranger.

Cap compliance is holding it back, but it appears over the past 24 hours the deal has been cemented.

On Kane/NYR: last 24 hours or so has been about lining up everything from cap situation to third-party trade partners to roster machinations to Kane's approval. Making sure everything in place; no detail is missed. We're grinding towards a conclusion, no one wants a misstep.

With the package heading back to Chicago reportedly being very underwhelming, it is an exciting time to be a Rangers fan.

We will hopefully find out very soon what the full terms of the deal are, and in a few months we'll see if the Rangers did enough to win the cup.

There's a lot to be excited about.
