A few days ago, he reflected on a major event that happened in his early days in the NHL during an interview with Paul Bissonnette on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast.
The Trade
Rask was traded by the Maple Leafs to the Bruins in 2006 in exchange for Andrew Raycroft.
Not only was this a completely lopsided trade, but it also drastically changed the Leafs' and the Bruins' franchises.
As you know, he ended up playing more than 500 games for the Bruins and secured more than 300 wins.
Raycroft participated in fewer than 100 games with the Leafs before signing in Colorado.
Rask Shares Hilarious Story of His Trade to Boston
Rask was still a prospect when he was traded.
Here's the story of how he learned he had been traded:
"It was a midsummer party in Finland,» Rask explained. «I was 18 or 19. We're on a three-day bender, it's not getting dark. At around midnight, 2 am, I get a phone call from my agent and he's like, 'Hey, you've been traded to the Bruins,' and I'm like, 'Uhh, okay, great.' I didn't give a sh*t — 25 beers deep at the time, we'll deal with it on Monday."
