It's been eight days since Erik Karlsson was traded from San Jose to Pittsburgh in a massive three-team deal involving the Montreal Canadiens.
In that trade, Casey DeSmith joined the Canadiens, and unfortunately, things haven't been easy with his new team.
DeSmith Unhappy with the Canadiens
Casey DeSmith opened up for the first time about the trade that sent him to Montreal.
He made a shocking revelation:
"I have been informed that Casey DeSmith and his partner are currently experiencing a great deal of anxiety.
His wife is due to give birth in the next few hours/days and is still in Pittsburgh. The goalie, for his part, is waiting to find out the circumstances under which he will have to move his little family." - Anthony Martineau
DeSmith's situation is very understandable. We hope this situation is resolved quickly.
Where Will DeSmith End Up?
Martineau added that Kent Hughes might decide to keep him.
"Montreal seems open for business regarding its goaltenders, as I have also been told. The club has not yet made a decision, is listening attentively, and gives the impression of looking for the most profitable avenue for itself."
Hughes is considering the best options for his team, and he needs to decide if his plan includes DeSmith or not.
