A reporter highlighted a modification to the NHL's protocol concerning their referees which hints at a possible upcoming stride in the sport's inclusivity.
Mark Spector reported in breaking news that the NHL made a big change to promote gender equality.
He shared in a recent post on X that the league change the word "linesmen" to "linesperson" on their official game sheets.
This could be a hint that we could see the first woman in history to officiate a game in the NHL.
So, here's something new on the NHL game sheets these days.
Linespersons. Does this portend that Kirsten Welsh, a promising AHL "linesperson" is soon to break the barrier as an NHL official?
Stay tuned..."
In the AHL, referee Kirsten Welsh is gaining a lot of attention, and many believe she'll be called to officiate an NHL game soon.
