The Pittsburgh Penguins have won 3 Stanley Cups in the Sidney Crosby era and have always been contenders within this time frame as well. But with a 4-5-1 record in their last 10 games, the outlook is changing for one of the teams considered the best.

Sidney Crosby offered his opinion on where the team stands and what they have to do to make it to the postseason.

Crosby: Penguins Must Work 'Little Bit Harder, Little Bit Smarter'

«It's just a matter of working a little bit harder,» Sidney Crosby said after practice at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex Wednesday. «A little bit smarter.»

Sidney Crosby goes on to explain that the team needs to play harder and smarter in their game overall, to get over their slump.

In the Metropolitan Division, they've posted a 0-6-3 record and haven't beaten an opponent in 2 months' time! The Eastern Conference is extremely competitive and the Penguins aren't even in the running for either Wildcard Spots, a first for the team.

Crosby is correct, if the Penguins will attain their 17th consecutive playoff berth, they need to get their game together.
