Bruins Captain Patrice Bergeron made a crazy prediction about previous coach Bruce Cassidy to Vegas Player Mark Stone after Cassidy was hired by Vegas.
According to Vegas President of Hockey Operations George McPhee, General Manger Kelly McCrimmon asked Vegas Captain Stone to reach out to Bergeron about his experiences with the ex-Bruins coach. What followed was a shocking premonition.
"If Vegas hires Bruce, they'll win the Stanley Cup next year."-Patrice Bergeron
The Golden Knights did just that dispatching the Florida Panthers in five games to win their first ever Stanley Cup.
Bruce Cassidy coached the Bruins from the 2016/2017 season through the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs where they lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round.
The Bruins under Cassidy made the 2019 Cup Finals but lost to St. Louis, and was never able to reach those heights again.
Boston hired Jim Montgomery after firing Cassidy, who led them to a record-breaking 65 win season, where they surprisingly lost to the upstart Florida Panthers in seven games.
Ironically Cassidy and Vegas beat Florida to win the Cup.
