Scott Arniel steps into Bowness' shoes again, this time for one of the Jets' biggest games of the year against New York.

Bowness has been the Winnipeg Jets head coach since July 3rd of 2022. He has established himself as one of the best coaches in all of the NHL leading the Jets to a top record in the NHL.
Earlier this season, Bowness missed time as his wife was in the hospital.
The Jets under Bowness' leadership this season have posted a 43-19-5 record which is good for fifth in the NHL and are only 4 points out from first in the NHL. Their opponent tonight, the New York Rangers, have a 45-19-4 record which is second in the NHL and one point off the lead in the NHL.
Rick Bowness will be replaced by associate coach Scott Arniel in an interim capacity until he returns to the team.

Jets assistant coach Scott Arniel has been with the franchise since 2022 when Bowness came in. Anriel was originally a draft pick of the Winnipeg Jets back in 1981. He has previously worked with the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Washington Capitals, and the Manitoba Moose (the Winnipeg Jets' AHL affiliate).
We wish Bowness all the best on his road to recovery and hope to see him behind the bench soon. Till then, we wish Scott Anriel the best of luck with his stint as the Winnipeg Jets' head coach.
