The Toronto Maple Leafs don't have the most prestigious history with goaltenders.

They've struggled between the pipes for decades, but things have hopefully turned around for 2023.

Ilya Samsonov has been great, and Matt Murray has been good when he's been healthy.

Unfortunately, this health discussion has made obvious parallels to 2022 Vezina finalist, and overall underwhelming former Maple Leafs goalie Frederik Andersen.

Andersen always had the skill, but he was known to let in some weak goals. Overwhelmingly similar to Murray.

It is time for Murray to define his destiny. Will he fade out in Toronto, or will he carry them deep into the playoffs?

It will surely be interesting to watch.
