While Mason Marchment to the Maple Leafs didn't materialize this summer, a key indicator of his intro video to Seattle show's he might be coming here after all.

When news broke of Mason Marchment's trade to the Seattle Kraken, it was seen as a big coup for the Kraken as they got a reliable and consistent offensive presence for only the cost of a couple of draft picks.
Leafs fans were bummed about not being about to bring him aboard, and reportedly so was management. He would have been perfect in the new-look Leafs roster but we'll need to wait another time for him to come.
Which might not be too long at all.

Mason Marchment rocking Toronto gear; could be an indicator of future plans

In his introductory video to the Seattle Kraken fanbase, Marchment sent in a self-recording of himself being excited to be part of the team this season.
Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary but some keen eyed fans noticed that the choice of attire for Marchment may be indicating his future plans; seeing as he wasn't rocking a Kraken hat but instead a Toronto Blue Jays hat.
While it might be reading into too much at first, there's normally fire when smoke appears and he's been a target of the team in the past.
Marchment really shouldn't be though, and not because he's not good enough but because the team shouldn't have gotten rid of him in the first place; trading him for Denis Malgin; a player who only appeared in 31 games for Toronto.

To go after him now or later?

It would be great if the Maple Leafs were able to add Marchment part-way through the season, especially if they are in the thick of things when it comes to the playoffs, but it also depends on how Seattle sits in the standings.
If the team is in a good spot, then odds are they won't want to part with Marchment, but there's a chance that he might cost too much to keep around; but his price will still be high.
Can Toronto afford that? They are already thin with draft capital and don't have a ton of premium assets.
But on the flip side, if the Kraken are sitting in a rough spot in the Pacific some deadline time, they might take whatever they can get, and depending on his production, the price can fluctuate from reasonably pricey to dirt-cheap.
Marchment, 30, had a very good year for the Dallas Stars this pst season, registering 47 points (22G, 25A) in 62 games and added five points in 18 playoff games.
He will be a free agent next summer and if the Kraken aren't privy on bringing him back, and can't find a buyer at the deadline, expect Marchment to not only be wearing Blue Jays gear, but a Leafs jersey very soon.
