NHL Insider Frank Seravalli believes that Jordan Kyrou is still in the mix when it comes to a potential trade, meaning the Maple Leafs need to be active in acquiring him.

We've already seen big names like Mitch Marner, Chris Kreider, Trevor Zegras, and John-Jason
Peterka traded this summer, setting the stage for a wild and exciting 2025-26 season, and we're only a week into July; anything can happen when it comes to the NHL offseason.

Jordan Kyrou still drawing trade interest: Frank Seravalli

One name that has bounced around in recent weeks is St. Louis Blues star Jordan Kyrou, who while being a fantastic player, is quite expensive and GM Doug Armstrong might want to get out from under that deal; especially if he can bring in some solid pieces.

He's been linked to several teams including Montreal and Toronto, Kyrou would make sense to a lot of contending teams needing to add a lot more firepower up front.

And according to NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, Kyrou still has a lot of interest, with several teams still in the mix:

I think the Canadiens are still trying on Jordan Kyrou; I think there's other teams in the mix.

Montreal has already had a strong offseason so far, landing Noah Dobson from the New York Islanders, and https://www.markerzone.com/hockey/stats/nhl/player/Zachary-Bolduc-61796 from the Blues, and might be wanting to give their stars like Ivan Demidov and Nick Suzuki a top-six force to help them in a tough Atlantic Division.

Why Toronto needs to go after Jordan Kyrou

It's unknown who else is pursuing Kyrou but with the Maple Leafs expected to be fighting tooth and nail to get a top-six forward themselves, it wouldn't be shocking to see Brad Treliving field an offer.

He should be actively pursuing him too, as he's been one of the best goal-scorers over the last three seasons, averaging nearly 35 goals and 70 points with St. Louis.

Drafted 35th overall, Kyrou has really grown into his own as St. Louis' #1 option and grew into a much more capable and smarter defensive player last year.

He would instantly make Toronto's top-six a massive threat, and a top line of Matthew Knies, Auston Matthews and Kyrou would have the potential to score 100+ goals themselves.

Plus, he's also a Toronto-born player, and as we've seen with names like John Tavares, Steven Lorentz, and Michael Pezzetta; it's very enticing to put on the Maple Leaf.

If Kyrou is back on the market, that means that Brad Treliving has the perfect forward to give his team what they need to push them over the top, and give Craig Berube a former face to help lead the team to glory.
