Free agent forward and three-time Cup winner Jonathan Toews has narrowed the teams down as he decides where to start his NHL comeback after a two-year hiatus.

When news broke earlier this year that Jonathan Toews was looking to make a comeback, a lot of discussion became about where he would end up after his two-year hiatus after dealing with long-COVID as well as a chronic immune response syndrome.
It seems like every team has some interest, but the main players we've heard are the Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets, and according to some new information; it might not be long until we find out who.

Jonathan Toews aiming for NHL Draft to make decision on comeback destination

Per The Fourth Period, Toews is hopefully looking to have things figured out before the 2025 NHL Entry Draft:
Veteran centre Jonathan Toews has generated significant interest from several teams and is beginning to narrow down his options.

Toews, 37, is not eligible to sign a new contract until July 1, but he and his agent Pat Brisson are fully engaged in contract discussions with teams.

According to TFP's David Pagnotta, Toews and his camp are expected to make a decision by this month's NHL Draft. - The Fourth Period
With the Maple Leafs as one of the potential frontrunners, can they persuade Toews to sign?

Jonathan Toews would have a very easy time in Toronto

Not only would he instantly give the team a ton of credibility, but his legacy and story alone would endear himself to the fans, regardless of his performance.
He wouldn't be expected to lead the team like he did with Chicago, and his role as a third-line center would suit him perfectly for getting his feet under him while still giving him a chance to succeed.
There's also a lot to be said about Toronto's medical staff too, as a lot of players who end up signing here credit the team for helping get them back on track.
Plus, you can't argue what he brings to the table. Toews has 883 points in 1,067 games (372G, 511A), three Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe, a Selke and a Mark Messier award. His partnership with Patrick Kane is legendary, and could lead to the American forward potentially jumping ship to join him.
But wherever he ends up, not only is he not going to cost a lot, but he's going to bring a great story and a lot of motivation.
We're just happy he's back.
