Halifax Mooseheads' Jordan Dumais, one of the best players in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and a prospect of the Columbus Blue Jackets, was officially arrested for driving under the influence.

Jordan Dumais, drafted in 2022 by the Blue Jackets at the 96th overall pick (3rd round), was arrested for driving under the influence on March 1st, in Halifax.
It was announced today that Dumais will face charges of "operating a conveyance while impaired and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol level over .08" at the Halifax Provincial Court.
"BREAKING: Jordan Dumais, Columbus Blue Jackets prospect and star forward with the Halifax Mooseheads, has been charged by police with DUI."

Dumais might be better than most people at hockey, but it doesn't put him above the law. Unfortunately, this will impact his career.

How Jordan Dumais' Arrest Will Impact His Hockey Career

Dumais, who was named MVP of the QMJHL in 2023, had a tough season this year. He had injuries many times and must now serve a 5-game suspension from his team.
Here's his team's official statement:
"STATEMENT FROM YOUR HALIFAX MOOSEHEADS

Halifax Mooseheads forward Jordan Dumais violated the QMJHL and the team's code of conduct, and has been suspended for five (5) games.

Dumais, who is back healthy, will miss the remainder of the regular season and the first game of the playoffs. Since this was an off-ice infraction, the matter was handled internally while the team remained in constant communication with the League.

The QMJHL and the Mooseheads demand exemplary behavior from all its players, both on and off the ice. Dumais's suspension began on March 14th, against the Charlottetown Islanders.

The team and Dumais will have no further comment."

This will probably follow him for the rest of his career. Even if he's a very good hockey player, people will remember this incident, and teams could be hesitant to sign him.
More to come.
