Brendan Leipsic signs new contract after being banished from the NHL
Brendan Leipsic is one of the most controversial modern NHLers, and was kicked off of the Washington Capitals for disgusting comments a few years ago.
The process all started when Brendan's brother, Jeremy Leipsic was kicked off of the University of Manitoba men's hockey team:
Jeremy Leipsic, Brendan Leipsic's brother, was in the group chat that was made public yesterday. He's now been released from the University of Manitoba men's hockey team.

Statement From University of Manitoba's Men's Hockey Team:
Bison Sports was extremely disappointed to learn of the comments made by the group of prominent hockey players, including one of our own, who were involved in the private group chat that has emerged online. We condemn any such remarks and attitudes as they are offensive, reprehensible and have absolutely no place in sport or in our programs.
Leadership, respect and integrity are core values of our Bison Sports community and as a result of this situation, we have taken the action to release the current student-athlete from the program.

Finally, Brendan Leipsic was terminated by the Washington Capitals organization:
The Washington Capitals have placed forward Brendan Leipsic on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.
Now, despite having been all but banned from competing in the NHL, Brendan Leipsic has signed a two-year deal with Avtomobilist of the KHL after a long stint with SKA.

We will see if Brendan Leipsic ever returns to North America, but it seems all but certain that that chapter of his career is closed - and rightfully so.
