The Leafs are expected to make some major moves this offseason. They have already made changes to the coaching staff, with Craig Berube replacing Sheldon Keefe. However, the team is also expected to make at least one major change to their roster. The player most consistently in trade rumors has been Mitch Marner, especially after the Nashville Predators made a trade that opened up cap space for the team.
However, Marner holds a full no-move clause. As a result, he will not be traded if he doesn't want to be. This is part of the reasoning NHL analyst John Shannon uses to argue why the team should trade defenseman Morgan Rielly instead. Rielly has a 10-team no-trade list every year.
The full interview with John can be seen at the post below.
It will certainly be a very important offseason for the Maple Leafs this year. The moves they make now could affect the team for years, if not decades to come. Be sure to stay tuned to see what the team does, whether that includes trading Marner, Rielly, somebody else, or no one at all!
