Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens making trade per Pierre LeBrun
According to insider Pierre LeBrun, the Florida Panthers could be interested in the Montreal Canadiens D-man Ben Chiarot.
Ben's been the Habs' best Defenseman this struggling season with 5 goals and 7 points in 31 games. With a 7-23-7 record, the Habs will look to retool. The 30-year-old has one year left on his contract.
Earlier this season, Lebrun reported that Chiarot would be worth a 1st round pick because plenty of contenders will be looking for a top 4 defenseman.
Chiarot had an amazing playoff run as one of the Habs' top 4 D's alongside Weber, Petry, and Edmunson. But this year is a little different with all the injuries.
The Panthers will certainly not be the only team after the 6'3» D-man. He plays a physical brand of hockey and gives it his all every game. He will get moved soon, we will wait and see where.
UPDATE: Chiarot was traded to the Panthers at the trade deadline.
