A trade finalized between the Blackhawks and Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Chicago Blackhawks have officially sealed the deal on a trade. Rem Pitlick got traded to the Blackhawks, while the Penguins were getting a conditional 7th-round pick in return.

The Penguins were supposed to snag that 7th-round pick only if Rem Pitlick hit the ice for at least 30 games. Yet here's where things took a turn. Pitlick ended up spending a good chunk of his time with the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate, Rockford Icehogs which means he didn't meet that game requirement.

The Penguins essentially waved goodbye to Pitlick for nothing in return. Sure, 7th-round picks aren't exactly gold mines in the NHL draft, but it's a bit of a bummer for the Pens.

Let's hope the Penguins have some other tricks up their sleeves to stock up on draft picks. Especially since their first-round pick might be heading elsewhere. Time to scout for some hidden gems and build that depth.
