Tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins Auston Matthews scored yet another goal. This time his 65th would set a new milestone for the modern NHL.
This goal by Auston Matthews tied him with Alex Ovechkin and places him just 4 behind Mario Lemieux for the most in the last 30 years.
With this accomplishment he not only becomes the 3rd player in the last 30 years to score 65 goals but also the 13th to ever score that many goals.
While this accomplishment is impressive in itself it is not the only thing Auston Matthews tied a record in. With that goal, he also tied the longest point streak of any player this season passing Arizona Coyote Clayton Keller.
Auston Matthews seems to be in top form as the Toronto Maple Leafs enter the playoffs. With the way he is playing right now playoff scoring records could be in danger if the team performs well.
