Jesperi Kotkaniemi has yet to agree to terms with the Montreal Canadiens as of today, August 23rd. Despite the fact that he is a paid free agent with the Habs, an NHL team could make a hostile offer.

But don't worry, KK isn't the only restricted free agent in this predicament; Brady Tkachuk, Andrei Svechnikov, Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson, Anthony Beauvilier, and Rasmus Dahlin, to mention a few, are all still unsigned.
Returning to Kotkaniemi, who just finished a three-year NHL entry-level deal. With his inconsistency, he doesn't deserve a contract comparable to that of Tkachuk, Svechnikov, Pettersson, and Hughes. Yvon Pedneault, on the other hand, did not specify what type of contract the young Finn will sign with the Habs.
"Unlike Dahlin and Tkachuk, who are looking for deals in the $8-9 million bracket, and Svechkinov, who is looking for a couple of seasons at $6-7 million, Kotkaniemi has missed the first three years and is being pursued for a $1.5 million deal." Yvon Pedneault Yvon Pedneault Yvon Pedneault Yvon
It would be remarkable if the Kotkaniemi family accepted such an offer, even if it was only for a year, but the CH will almost certainly do so. The youthful forward, on the other hand, might use the forthcoming season to hone his skills and secure a more lucrative contract at the conclusion.
Ryan Poehling, who is also a compensated free agent, must also be resolved by the Habs. To maintain his rights, Marc Bergevin made him a qualifying offer of at least $874,125. His next contract will almost definitely not be any greater.
