Looks like the Canadiens are rolling with a lot of young guns to start the season and potentially continue all the way for it's entirety. Young guns like Suzuki, Caufield, Romanov, Kotkaniemi, And Evans. Lacking that veteran presence might hurt how far they can go in the short term, but for the long term it seems more beneficial to keep the young guys getting those valuable prime time minutes and developing into better players for the Montreal Canadiens.
Too many times we see teams bring in veteran players or have players on one way contracts that ultimately take key playing time from young talented players simple because of dumb politics.
We also have to take in these young guys are going to be up for some big contracts in a couple years. Tying money up now to veterans could end up being disastrous for this team in the future.
I have full confidence in Bergervin's decision making throughout this key phase for the Canadiens. The Danault decision will turn out to be a great decision in due time. That money will be allocated to a much better cause than why Danault could've offered this team.
