It's been three months since Vladimir Tarasenko announced his departure from St. Louis. And he has a $7.5 million cap hit for the next two years after his third shoulder surgery.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a trade to the New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, or Carolina Hurricanes might happen before training camp.
The key question for those three teams is his cap hit and shoulder health. The Buffalo Sabres have the same dilemma with a Jack Eichel trade.
Trading Tarasenko would provide the Blues financial flexibility. But, again, which club wants to shoulder that financial burden? For the simple reason that they have no idea.
These first few months of the NHL season will test Tarasenko's shoulder and sniper form. Then hope his value rises, bringing the team additional bidders.
What will the Blues do to Tarasenko?
