Wayne Simmonds is having trouble cracking the Leafs' forward group. The high-energy, physical veteran is a Toronto area native, and he is living his dream playing for his favorite team.

Unfortunately, without a real spot for him, he has been waived several times. He has gone unclaimed each time, but some new insider info indicates that Simmonds almost changed homes.
After the injury to Evander Kane, the Edmonton Oilers have been lacking their factor of grit. It now appears that GM Ken Holland was seriously thinking of claiming Simmonds off waivers, but ultimately changed directions.
Simmonds would be a very low-risk acquisition for the team, as he could simply be waived again if he is no longer needed.
This isn't the ideal situation for the 34 year old, but it's entirely possible he does change addresses at some point in this campaign.
This will be an interesting story to follow.
