Victor Mete, a young defenseman with a promising future, seemed to have a bright future with the Montreal Canadiens just a few years ago.

Unfortunately, things fell apart, and the Habs thought they had no choice but to put the now 22-year-old on waivers, where he was picked up by the Ottawa Senators. Mete has now appeared in 14 games for the Sens and, according to a chat he had with TSN1200, seems to be having a great time.

«It's a new lease on life getting claimed by Ottawa,» Mete said. «Its been great here. I was able to go out and play my game knowing if I made a mistake I wasn't going to be pulled.»

It is worth noting that given the Senators spot in the standings all year long, they were certainly in a position to be more patient with their young players compared to the Habs who have been fighting for their playoff lives nearly all season long. Still, it is an interesting comment an suggests that Mete is much happier a Senator than he was a Canadien.
