In case you missed it, Leafs captain John Tavares was clipped in the head by Corey Perry's skate during the first game of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens playoff series on Thursday evening in Toronto.
After taking a shot from Habs defenseman Ben Chiarot, Tavares lost the puck and attempted to keep it in his hands by doing a barrel roll. Perry is late and attempts to hop over Tavares, but his skate or shin pad manages to catch him square in the chest. Before an official blew the play down and called for medical help, Tavares was down and out.
Here's the whole thing:
Tavares was stretchered off the ice and following the game Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe provided an update on the health of his captain. The good news is that Tavares is conscious and communicating, but he'll remain in hospital overnight for more testing.
