The Colorado Avalanche and Nathan MacKinnon now have some bulletin board fodder, as St Louis Blues captain Ryan O'Reilly met with the media on Friday and said he believes the Blues will beat the Avalanche.
Although he avoided using the phrase "Messier promise," he was as upbeat as ever when discussing his team's chances. The Blues will be difficult to defeat, but the Avs seem to be playing at a higher level this season and have finally found some healthy goaltending.
As for O'Reilly, he mentioned:
''It's exciting for us. We know we can beat this team and do some damage here. We know that they have a lot of talent over there and they work hard, but for us, it's an exciting challenge, We're going have some fun and we're going to beat them.''
The Avalanche won five of the eight meetings between the clubs during the regular season, though St. Louis won the last two, both on home ice. Game 1 goes Monday night in Denver.
