The St Louis Blues are in talks with a number of teams, including the New York Islanders, about trading forward Vladimir Tarasenko, who wants to play elsewhere next season. Despite the fact that medical documents have been exchanged, the Blues appear to be asking for too much.
While Tarasenko would certainly upgrade the Isles left-wing position, losing Noah Dobson is something the team is not interested in doing. They already have to give away Devon Toews to the Colorado Avalanche last summer and don't want to lose another young up-and-coming defenseman. Dobson is only 21, and was the team's first round pick, 12th overall in 2018. Last season he recorded 14 points in 46 games and the team believes he could become a 50-point producer.
The Blues continue to have dialogue with the Islanders, among other teams and will look to get a deal done soon. It's likely to happen once the Seattle Kraken decide who they want to select in the expansion draft July 21.
