According to Sport24.ru, CSKA Moscow recently offered defender Alexander Romanov a two-season contract worth 120 million roubles.
That's 60 million per season, or just under a million US dollars.
That's more money than Romanov has earned per season in the NHL so far, and would place him among the highest paid players in the KHL. It is also important to note that the KHL salary cap does not include bonuses, which means that players can earn much more than their stated salary.
Romanov spent two seasons with CSKA before coming to North America. He won a Gagarin Cup with the team in 2019.
In the most recent NHL draft, Romanov was traded to the New York Islanders. The team has until 5 p.m. tonight to offer him a qualifying offer.
