Several engineering firms are very concerned with the state of the Saddledome, saying the «condition of the roof concrete is worsening at an accelerated rate.»
Documents obtained by CBC News show that pieces of concrete have fallen loose from the roof while other crumbling pieces have been removed to prevent them from falling. They have even went to the extent of adding protective netting as more concrete pieces have loosened, crumbled, and begun to tumble to the ground.
The Flames continue to try and reach a new venue deal, city council has thrown its support behind the idea of building a new downtown arena which would replace the Saddledome.
