Potential Trade Market for JT Miller and Tyler Myers Revealed
The Canucks are currently in the midst of a retool and are expected to be active until the trade deadline. However, they have a couple of contracts that are hindering their progress, specifically those of J.T. Miller and Tyler Myers.
J.T. Miller had an outstanding season in 2021-2022, scoring 99 points and earning a $56M extension starting in the 2023-2024 season. While Miller has been the center of trade discussions, unloading him may be the best option for the Canucks.
In a recent Daily Faceoff Podcast, Frank Seravalli discussed Miller's trade market, revealing that some teams have internally discussed acquiring him. The Hurricanes have shown interest in replacing Pacioretty with Miller, but talks have not come to a conclusion.
Tyler Myers has also been on the trade market since the Canucks' management changed, but there hasn't been much interest from other teams. Seravalli mentioned that there isn't a market for Myers currently, and he may not even be interested in waiving his no-trade clause.
While the Canucks may struggle to unload some of their contracts, such as Myers', there is hope that they may win the upcoming lottery and draft Connor Bedard, a generational talent.
