Veteran Paul Byron thanked Habs fans and teammates on Twitter. A man of great class!

It's been 3 weeks since the Stanley Cup final game and we still haven't figured out how close we were to winning the ultimate prize. The past year and a half has been one of the most rewarding and challenging times of my life to date. The emotional highs and lows of the playoffs are unlike anything I have ever experienced. I am truly proud of all my teammates and honored to have been a part of this incredible run.
The future is bright here and there is incredible young talent on the team, great players, old and young, and great prospects ahead. Being as close as we have only motivates you to work harder and try to be better as the challenge gets tougher every year. The focus now is on pushing and working even harder than before, to make sure I bring everything I can to the team and hopefully be on the right side to reach our goal next season.
I know I am still capable of raising my game and becoming a more dynamic and consistent player again for next season. If there is one thing to take away from this season, it is how much we missed the fans and the incredible atmosphere in the best arena in field hockey. The boost we felt when we stepped on the ice for the first time with fans in 14 months, with even just 2500 fans, was incredible. It really felt like 15,000 and triggered a sorely missed adrenaline rush.
The atmosphere and mood throughout the city during the playoffs was something I will never forget and hope to not be separated from for years to come. It's been a long year and a half for everyone, so to be able to share this experience with all of you has been an incredible adventure. I can't wait to come back and play at the Bell Centre, hopefully at full capacity next season!
Thank you to all my teammates, coaching staff, trainers and everyone in the organization for their hard work, discipline and the number of hours it took to make this season happen. Thank you to my beautiful wife Sarah, my children Elianna and Brysen, and all of my family and friends who have always been by my side and supported me even through the final Pacific games and exciting overtime. Thank you to the great Montreal Canadiens fans who really make the game here special! Have a great summer and see you soon.
